Fourteen cases of amebic liver abscess (9 males and 5 females) were included in the trial. All cases were treated with tinidazole (1 to 3 cures) and aspiration of pus. One cure of oral administration of tinidazole included 450-600 mg b.i.d. per day for 5 days. Clinical cure was observed in 11 cases and effective rate was 78.57 per cent, while 3 cases (case No. 4, 7 and 13) were not improved and these had another hepatic trouble such as cirrhosis of the liver. Six cases had side effects of tinidazole including fatigability, nausea, paresthesia and vertigo which were mild and subsided without supportive therapy except one (case No. 12).
